All students should be provided access to the general education curriculum and age- and grade-appropriate curricular materials.
When books are adapted, they can make reading more successful for students with significant disabilities. Adaptations can include making a book easier to use (turning pages, holding) and text easier to read (simplify, change) and remember. The ACCESS Project has a library that contains adapted versions* of required reading for elementary, middle and high school.
